Gaming company to build Azure into new line of gaming titles

TORONTO, ON – March 13, 2015 –Throwback Entertainment today announced a collaboration with Azure that will integrate cloud infrastructure in their new game titles. Through the agreement, Azure will power the key cloud-based frameworks to bring the Throwback portfolio of games, once published by Acclaim Entertainment to devices such as smartphones, tablets and PCs.

Consumers will benefit from a seamless transition between devices, picking up where they left off from one device to another, regardless of the form factor or platform.

“Throwback Entertainment is thrilled to be working with Microsoft,” said Robert Maduri, president of Throwback Entertainment.  “As gaming progressively becomes a more connected experience, Azure offers a tremendous enhancement to our titles and their success in the marketplace.”

Throwback Entertainment’s unique portfolio of games have accumulated over $3.5 billion in revenue, sold over 200 million copies and distributed to over 35 countries around the world.

“Gaming companies are continually looking for ways to reach their customers wherever they go,” said Vibhor Kapoor, Director of Product Marketing, Microsoft Azure. “As consumer demand for immersive gaming products on all available devices grow, Azure provides frontline cloud technology to audiences when and where they want them.”

The first title that will see benefits of this collaboration is scheduled for release spring of 2015.
